Q:1- Can I submit my application in advance ?
YES, you can submit your application up to six months in advance.

Q:2- I am an Indian citizen and have a US (or Canada) visa (or resident permit). Do I need an airport transit visa when traveling through Paris ?
You don't need an airport transit visa if you hold a confirmed ticket.

Q:3- On my way to US, UK , etc… I wish to spend a day or two in Paris. Do I need a visa ?
YES, you need an ordinary transit visa (valid up to 5 days)

Q:4- Can a visa be extended in France ?
NO.

Q:5- Can I get my visa directly at Paris airport ?
You must get it before you leave India.

Q:6- Can I send my application by post or through courrier ?
NO. In case you don't wish to come in person, please have your application submitted through a travel agent. You will be called for an interview if necessary.

Q:7- I am an Indian citizen living abroad. Do I have to apply in India ?
It is advisable to apply in the country of residence.

Q:8- My visa got refused with no explanation. Can you let me know why ?
According to the French law, the reasons for refusal are confidential and cannot be disclosed

Q:9- I am going to UK and intend to visit your country. Can I make the hotel booking from UK only ?
You must provide a hotel booking at the time of submission.

Q:10- I am going to Greece, could I make an application at the Consulate General of France for the Greek visa ?
YES. The Consulate General of France in Mumbai is entitled to deliver SHORT STAY visas in representation of Greece.

Q:11- To which mission do I apply ?
You must apply for your visa at the mission (Embassy/Consulate) of the country where you plan to go and stay the longest. If you are planning to stay for equal number of days at more than one mission, for example, 10 days in France and 10 days in Germany, then you must apply for a visa at the mission of the country which you will enter first.

Q:12- Can I submit my application in advance?
YES, you can submit your application six months prior to the date of your travel.

Q:13 - Can my visa be extended in France ?
A :NO.

Q:14 - If my sponsorship letter has expired, can I still submit my application?
A :YES, if your sponsorship letter has expired just by a week or two, you can submit your application.

Q:15- I am a Diplomatic passport holder. Do I still require an appointment to submit my application ?
A :NO, you can submit your application directly at the Consulate between 1100-1200 hours on Monday to Friday excluding Wednesdays.

Q:16 - I am an Indian citizen living abroad. Do I have to apply in India ?
A :It is advisable to apply in the country of residence.

Q:17 - I am an Indian citizen and have a US (or Canada) visa (or green card holder). Do I need an airport transit visa when traveling through Paris ?
A :NO, you don't need an airport transit visa if you hold a confirmed ticket.

Q:18 - I am married to a French citizen. How do I make an application ?
A :If you have a French marriage certificate then you do not require an appointment. You can apply directly at the Consulate between 1100-1200 hours on Monday to Friday excluding Wednesdays.

Q:19 - I am a British overseas citizen. Do I require an appointment ?
A :YES.

Q:20 - I am going to Greece, can I make an application at the Consulate General of France for the Greek visa ?
A :YES. The Consulate General of France in Mumbai is entitled to deliver short stay visas in representation of Greece.

Q:21 - If I am traveling to the US via France on an open ticket / Buddy pass, what kind of visa will I require ?
A :As your travel dates are not confirmed you will have to apply for an ordinary transit or short stay visa.

Q:22 - We are a family of three. How many applications do I submit ?
A :One application per person has to be submitted. Each application must be supported by all required documents.

Q:23 - My visa got refused with no explanation. Can you let me know why ?
