Ordinary transit (Seamen): Is applicable in case you are taking a stopover for five hours or more and less than 5 days and are joining a ship for an onward destination.

Application Procedure
W.e.f. 03rd July, 2006 the applications residing in areas which falls under the jurisdiction of Embassy of France, New Delhi i.e.National Capital Territories of Delhi, States of Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orrisa, all seven North Eastern States (Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh),Sikkim and the Union Territory of Chandigarh can also submit their visa applications at the France Application Center Kolkata without appointment at the following address 3rd Floor Om Towers, 32 Chowringhee Road, Kolkata - 700 071.

The submission timings are 0800-1200 Hrs, 1300-1500 Hrs Monday to Friday except Holiday specified by the embassy of France, New Delhi and on the last two working days of each fortnight. All applications will be assessed at The Embassy of France, New Delhi.

A visa application can be submitted by the following:
1)Applicant himself.
2)Travel Agents authorised by Embassy of France,New Delhi.
In case a representative is coming to submit the application he needs to carry a photo id of himself and a proof establishing his relationship with the applicant and an authority letter from the applicant.
A representative cannot be a non listed Travel Agent.

Please note the visa fee for applicants applying to the France Visa Application Centre in Kolkata is payable by a Bank Draft. The Bank Draft must be payable in Kolkata favouring 'VFS Global Services PVT LTD A/C NO 24105037330'. Alternatively, applicants have the option of purchasing the Bank Draft at the France Visa Application Centre for a nominal fee of Rs.100/- (inclusive of Service Tax) per applicant. One Bank Draft will be accepted per applicant.

There will be a service charge of Rs. 510/- ( inclusive of Service tax ) levied per application over and above the visa fees. In case you would like your passport couriered to your specified address, you can request of this facility at the time of submitting your application. This optional service is available for an additional fee of Rs 200 ( inclusive of Service tax ). The service charge and the courier fee is payable in cash at the time of submitting your application.

For first time applicant(Never travelled to U.S.A.,U.K. or Europe before) processed passports can be collected after a minimum of seven working days(excluding day of submission at VFS) and for others after a minimum of five working days (excluding day of submission at VFS)from France Visa Application Centre between 08:00-12:00 hours,13:00-1600 hours,Monday to Friday.

Applicants can instantly track the status of their application by logging on to www.vfs-france.co.in or by sending an sms to VISA FR 57333. There will be no need to follow up with the Embassy or the Call Centre to ascertain when the passport will be returned.
